Everyone I Wanted is Gone…Therefore the Giants Select JPP

Once Earl Thomas came off the board to evolved Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks at fourteen, none of the players I had targeted for my beloved New York Giants were still on the board. Rolando McClain? Doomed to black whole. CJ Spiller? Doomed to economic recession in northwestern New York. Earl Thomas? Doomed to playing for a coach who is more “cool” than “smart,” which was cool in high school but doesn’t quite cut it in the NFL. There was only one guy left I could still kind-of, sorta get excited for: Dan Williams, tackle from Tennessee

Instead, they selected Jason Pierre-Paul, defensive end from South Florida. Normally I would be thrilled with a player with his amount of talent and I do understand the importance of having an elite pass rush. But isn’t taking a guy who will play behind Justin Tuck, Osi Umenyiora, and Mathias Kiwanuka, just overkill. Unless one of the three stalwarts is traded (light bulb moment?), then Perry Fewell will have to formulate a new, never before seen defense to get his most talented players on the field at once.

Here’s hoping Perry has a Harvard degree.
