Big Ben Gets Big Suspension – AP Reports

Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was suspended today for 4-6 games by Commissioner Roger Goodell for violating the NFL’s personal policy rule in regard to the accusation that he raped a 20-year-old college student in Milledgeville, Georgia. Roethlisberger’s excuse of “I’m sorry, officer, I did not know I could not do that” may have worked on Georgia police, but it didn’t fool Goodell one bit. Using all the powers available to him in his realm, Goodell sentenced Roethlisberger to a 6 game suspension, which may be alleviated to 4 games, if Roethlisberger shows that he’s trying extra hard to be a good person.

Ben “never-been-too-bright” Roethlisberger was also accused of raping another woman in 2008 in Lake Tahoe. That lawsuit is still pending. That Roethlisberger can overcome his stupidity and post-collegiate-animal-house mentality and get back on the field in 4 games is doubtful, in my opinion, but the Steelers are certainly hoping its the case. Pinning high hopes on Byron Leftwich (the team’s newest acquisition) has never worked out well for anyone.
