New York Mets: The Reyes Question

With Opening Day fast approaching the Mets are still unsure of Reyes’ exact status. Of course their star shortstop will be back before too long, but the all important question seems to be whether or not he will make the Opening Day lineup. Reyes naturally says he feels fine, but it’s going to be a decision for the managerial side of things. I imagine they will err on the side of caution and not try to rush him back too soon.

However, the Mets are excited that they seem to have gotten the injuries out of the way early. Regardless of whether Reyes plays in the opening series, he will be back in uniform before too long, and Beltran is expected make soon as well. Their lineup should be at full strength almost right away and not decimated by the injuries that derailed any playoff hopes they had last season, which is good news for Met fans. Maybe this year they’ll actually be able to root for their team instead of against the Yankees.
