New York Mets: Everyday Struggle

Johan Santana is slated to pitch Tuesday March 9th, making his way back from last year’s season ending surgery, and looking to regain his former Cy Young form. Johan said “I can get full extension again, which will allow me to throw my wicked slider and send hitters to the dugout shaking their heads.” I believe that is exactly what Mets Fans are looking for.

Unfortunately Jose Reyes can’t seem to shake the aura of negativity that seems to hover over him like a black cloud following Charlie Brown. Reyes has been diagnosed with an overactive thyroid, the Mets will send Reyes to New York for further testing. Doctors will then decide on a course of action to treat his condition. As long as thyROID is the only ROID we are hearing about I’m sure this will be handled quite easily. Then again, this is the Mets medical staff we’re talking about.

In other non-injury related news, the Mets split their split-squad games Friday beating the Cardinals 7-3 and losing to the Marlins 4-3.

In other news around the N.L., Barry Zito plunked Prince Fielder for his and the Brewers bowling pin celebration last year, thats noteworthy cause Barry Zito’s pitching is well, not very noteworthy. Carlos Lee of the Astros is reportedly leaving the Astros camp to herd cattle, no that is not a misprint. Lee is showing his prized cattle herd at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Also Jason Heyward, the number one prospect in baseball continues to impress for the Braves.
